Introverts - Day 9 of A to Z Blogging Challenge - Things I Love

Here is the definition of introvert according to the Urban Dictionary:

A person who is energized by spending time alone. Often found in their homes, libraries, quiet parks that not many people know about, or other secluded places, introverts like to think and be alone.
Contrary to popular belief, not all introverts are shy. Some may have great social lives and love talking to their friends but just need some time to be alone to "recharge" afterwards. The word "introvert" has negative connotations that need to be destroyed. Introverts are simply misunderstood because the majority of the population consists of extroverts.

Actually, the first sentence alone might be enough - 'A person who is energized by spending time alone'. Extroverts are energized by spending time with people. Introverts do like social activities, but need time alone to recharge. I often go for walks on my own, and often come to coffee shops on my own, whereas most people are with friends or family. I would say that most introverts are likely to be fairly quiet people - I certainly am anyway.

Looks like I'm reflecting here .. Introverts like to reflect.
Introverts can be the most creative, caring and sensitive people. A lot of introverts are likely to be drawn to creative and/or spiritual activities. Sometimes us introverts can feel a little cut off from the rest of society - it's probably true that the word 'introvert' is not thought of that positively. Introverts can perhaps come across as being unfriendly, but it's not that we don't want to spend time with or talk to people - we just value our own company. It is well known that introverts don't generally like small talk - we prefer to talk about more meaningful things, or not talk at all.

Do I like being an introvert? If I'm being honest, it can be tough. But I have a few introvert friends who are amongst the coolest people I know. I love people who are introverts.

A short and sweet post today - not sure what I'll talk about tomorrow.

  1. Hello, fellow introvert. I know that not all introverts are shy--in fact I know quite a few who are highly social--but I'm of the shyer variety. I've gotten much better at faking it over the years, but if I don't get my recharging time, live is one big anxious mess.

A few things this week has taught me

Well well. This one really has been one of the toughest weeks in a good while. It's pretty rare for me to get too depressed these days, ...
