Journey - Day 10 of A to Z Blogging Challenge - Things I Love

The journey can be dark but there is always light at the end - photo taken at Thruscross
So, admittedly, I had difficulty thinking of a topic today, so I did a bit of a 'phone a friend' by asking my Facebook friends to suggest one. There were quite a few suggestions, but the one I liked the most, was 'Journey'.

The journey of life is an interesting one. It's not easy - and sometimes we're so fixated on an end result which will supposedly make us happy, that we miss the juice and excitement of what is happening NOW.

Life often goes in a completely different direction to how you expect - ten years ago, if anyone had told me I'd be living in Yorkshire, following a completely different spiritual pathway, and burning incense, I'd have been horrified. Life also can bring some difficult events - like for me, two breakdowns, the death of a sibling, and difficult jobs.

But wow, I have grown as a person so much. Moving location has given me the opportunity to see a number of different places, to meet different people, and just a lease of freedom that I didn't have before. I have learnt so much about both myself and about how to live life. I have been introduced to meditation, to new ways of thinking, and to new ways of just 'being'.

There is so much to enjoy along the journey of life - nature, books, food, music, sport, dancing, love - you name it. If you surrender to the flow of life rather than trying to make life work on your terms, life will respond with some awesome blessings. You will also come across challenges, but you will be able to face them.

The journey of life is unpredictable - and I wouldn't want to know what is going to happen within the next year. I dare say if we did know what was going to happen, we might either feel very upbeat or very downbeat. The best thing is to remain open minded and open hearted, and walk through the journey of life with courage and confidence.

  1. Really good post. I'm also in Yorkshire and have been my entire life but I didn't expect things to turn out as they have these last ten years. I won't try and predict what the next decade has in store but it will be interesting to find out.

Good luck with the rest of the challenge :)

A few things this week has taught me

Well well. This one really has been one of the toughest weeks in a good while. It's pretty rare for me to get too depressed these days, ...
